The 2014 Cheese Days Chase will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014, and is sponsored by Klondike Cheese Company!  

We will once again have the Kids Chase before the 5K and 10K runs.  The kids race (divided into two age groups) is sponsored by the Monroe Clinic.

The 2014 festival marks the 100th Anniversary of Cheese Days!  Mark your calendars for the race and festival--it's going to be a fantastic event you don't want to miss!

Entry Fee
$35 August 31 through day of race (shirts are not guaranteed). 

Fees are non-refundable.  Event held rain or shine.  A minimal number of extra shirts may be available after advanced registration, but are not guaranteed.  Pre-register to get a 2014 Cheese Days Chase T-shirt.

Friday, September 19
Pick up your T-shirt if you pre-registered at the Avalanche Hockey food stand on the square between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm.

Saturday, September 20
8:30 am - Kids Race

The race will be divided in two age groups:  2-6 years old and 7-10 years old.  

All participants will receive a ribbon.  Pre-register to guarantee a T-shirt (T-shirts are not guaranteed for those registering day of race).  The first boy and first girl in each race will receive a prize.

Race Day Packets

Catch a few extra zzzzzs on Saturday morning.  All those who pre-registered may pick up their race day packets on Friday, September 19 at the Avalanche Hockey food stand on the square any time between 9 am and 9 pm.  Be sure to retain your numbers as reissued numbers will be charged to at $3 each.

If you hadn't registered by September 8, you may sign up at the Avalanche Hockey food stand to get your number.  

All those who pre-register by August 30 will receive a race T-shirt.  Shirts are not guaranteed after August 30.

Chase Start Times

Friday, September 19
Pick up your race packet at the Avalanche Hockey food stand on the square between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm.

Saturday, September 20
7:30 am - Registration

8:30 am - Kids Race

9:00 am - 5K and 10K run (in bib timing)

9:00 am - Two mile walk/fun run (not timed)

Rules and Safety

  • Your race bib for the run must be worn on the outside of your clothing in order to be timed.
  • No strollers or baby joggers are allowed in the run. Strollers, wagons and baby joggers are only allowed in the walk. Look for wave “Walkers with Accessories” at the walk start.
  • No bicycles, unicycles, roller blades, heelys, skateboards, or ripsticks.
  • No pets allowed in the walk or run.
  • Obey race officials and yield to emergency vehicles.
  • ipod/mp3/cd players may be worn but please be aware of your surroundings.
  • Replacement numbers for those lost will be charged $3 each.

Post Race Festivities

Awards will be given in the Minhas Brewery lot at the corner of 12th Street and 16th Avenue; Monroe, WI.  Participants will exchange the tear-offs on race bibs for one cheese sandwich and one beverage.  Root beer will be provided for racers under 21.

*Please note:  participants MUST be wearing a Cheese Days Chase race bib and be of legal drinking age to be served beer.  ID will be checked.

5K and 10K Race Awards
Trophy – First place in each age group
Cheese – Second and third place prizes
No awards for the walk.

Pre-registered shirts not claimed by start of race will be redistributed.

Become a Cheese Days Chaser!

Sign up to volunteer for the 2014 Cheese Days Chase.  We are in need of course marshals and water stop volunteers.  Email 4avalanchehockey@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering.

Course Marshals
You will function as a traffic cop for the participants in the run/walk on Saturday morning (race day). You are the eyes and ears of the race and your role is vital. We are asking you to bring a cell phone (911) to report any injury or related problem should an accident occur. You will be assigned a specific location and should report to your assigned area by 8:45 am on race day.  Your shift will end at approximately 10:30 am or when the last runner passes which will be followed by a bicyclist.

Water Stops
On Saturday morning (race day), you should report your assigned water stop by 8:45 am. Be prepared to fill a lot of cups! Your shift is over at approximately 10:30 am or when the last runner passes which will be followed by a bicyclist.
