Avalanche U14 Girls Take 2nd Place in Home Tourney!

The Avalanche U14 Girls team held a home tournament at SLICE January 18-19, 2014.  The Avalanche took on the would be tournament champs, Baraboo Badger Lightning, in their first game.  The Avalanche fell to the Badger Lightning 8-3.  Cammi Ganshert (2) and Anika Einbeck scored the Avalanche goals, with assists from Ally Einbeck and Lilah Bauer.

The Avalanche next took on the Dubuque U18 She-Devils.  Jenna Schmerbach earned a shutout as the Avalanche easily defeated the She-Devils 5-0.  Scoring for the Avalanche were Cammi Ganshert (2), Anika Einbeck, Brooke Teubert, and Haley Knauf.  Earning assists in the game:  Lilah Bauer, Haley Knauf, and Cammi Ganshert.  Schmerbach recorded 17 saves.

In the final game, the Avalanche handily defeated the Dodgeville Ice Wolves.  Goalie Jenna Schmerbach earned a second shutout in the tournament as the Avalanche won 4-0.  Scoring Avalanche goals at two each were Ally Einbeck and Cammi Ganshert.  Earning assists:  Cammi Ganshert, Haley Knauf (2), Lilah Bauer, and Anika Einbeck.  The Avalanche outshot the Ice Wolves 49-5.

Girls Blank Dubuque

The Avalanche U14/12 Girls team played their last two games of the seasons against the Dubuque She-Devils.  On Saturday, March 15 in Dubuque, the Avalanche dominated the entire game shutting out the She-Devils 8-0.  Scoring for the Avalanche were Haley Knauf, Lilah Bauer, Brooke Teubert, and Cammi Ganshert.  Goalie Anika Einbeck recorded 12 saves in net.  The Avalanche outshot the She-Devils 27-12.  

On home ice on Sunday, the She-Devils welcomed the rematch.  The score remained 0-0 until half way through the second period when when Anike Einbeck scored on a pass from Cammi Ganshert and Brooke Teubert.  The She-Devils answered back ten seconds later.  The two teams both played tough and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  The Avalanche outshot the She-Devils 29-15.  Goalie Ally Einbeck recorded 14 saves.  Congrats, Avalanche Ladies, on a great season!

Avalanche Girls Fall to DC Diamonds

The Avalanche U12/U14 Girls team hosted the U12 DC Diamonds.  Anika Einbeck started the game scoring with an unassisted goal.  The DC Diamonds responded with two goals in the second period and one in the third.  Haley Knauf put one in the net with assists from Cammi Ganshert and Lilah Bauer.  The game clock ran out, leaving the Avalanche defeated by the DC Diamonds 3-2.  Goalie Jenna Schmerbach recorded 27 saves.  The Avalanche outshot the DC Diamonds 29-20.  The last Avalanche Girls games will be in Dubuque on March 15 and at home at 11:00 on March 16.

U14 Girls Win One, Tie One

The Avalanche U14 hosted Waukesha County Wolves U14 and U12 teams for a double-header on January 5, 2014. The short Avalanche bench came on strong in the first game against the Wolves’ U14 three-line squad to pull out a tie. Cammi Ganshert, assisted by Ally Einbeck, dropped in an unanswered goal in the first period with the help of aggressive play from the Avalanche crew. The Wolves came back in the second period with two goals. The third period saw forceful action from both sides of the puck. The Wolves scored again to widen their lead but Ganshert lit the lamp twice, assisted by Ally Einbeck, in the third to clinch a 3-3 tie. Both goalies earned 26 saves in the game.

The second game of the day featured an entirely new line of Wolves on the U12 team against the Avalanche ladies. The Avalanche muscled through to earn a close 4-3 win. Goals were scored by Cammi Ganshert (2), with an assist by Anika Einbeck, and Anika Einbeck (2) with an assist by Haley Knauf. The Avalanche had 28 shots on goal while goalie Sara Nicholas had nine saves.
