MYHA News & Info

Youth Night at SLICE

Youth players who bring two non-perishable items to the rink will have the opportunity to skate out alongside high school players during team introductions and the national anthem preceding the Varsity game at 7:00 pm.

Additionally, we encourage the high school team and parents to contribute items as well, allowing us to increase the impact of our donations.

To skate out, youth players please wear your red jerseys; THFF players can wear their USA Hockey jerseys.

The radio station will be there broadcasting the game as well, so we would love to see as many people (and food items) as possible as we cheer on the HS Varsity team vs Beloit!

Become a Referee!

Have you or your hockey player considered becoming a referee? Being a referee is a great way to learn more about the game, raise your “hockey IQ” and get paid to skate! This is an opportunity for our youth players and adults to discover a new aspect of hockey by registering to become an official for the 2023-2024 season.

Expectations
New officials are assigned for mainly U10 (“squirt”) and U12 (“peewee”) games, with an experienced official.  Pay ranges from $40-$50 per game. We want every official to succeed and enjoy the games that they work. It can be difficult for new officials to get games: Officials 13 years of age and younger can only be assigned to games with an adult partner (18+), which can limit the number of games they work. Whenever possible new officials will be assigned with an experienced official.

Registration Instructions
Please click here for instructions: how to become a referee in the state of Wisconsin.
Registration requirements for Level 1 & 2 officials have changed substantially for 2023-24 so please make sure you read through the checklist to ensure completion.

Once you receive your USA Hockey patch and official card, send a copy of the card to me (Tammy Haight) by text or email.

If you are registering as an official for the first time, you must complete all steps and have your patch before officiating your first game.

If you are renewing your certification, your 2022-23 certification is still valid until November 30.

If you would like more games than MYHA can offer (as we don’t have that many home games,) I encourage you to also register for Dane County Hockey Officials Association where you will be able to officiate many more games throughout Dane County.
