The Avalanche U10 Girls opened their season on November 9, 2013, with two games at home against the Viroqua Thunder U10 Girls.  Anna Malone came up from defense to drop one in for the Avalanche only 50 seconds into the first game.  The Thunder answered back two minutes later with their first goal. Viroqua closed the first period with another goal bringing the score to 2-1. Rebekah Rath fired back in the second period with two goals while Viroqua added one to tie it up 3-3.  Just two minutes into the third period Viroqua scored only to be followed up by a goal from Lilah Bauer and two more from Rebekah Rath.  Viroqua scored again in the third and pulled their goalie late in the period but were not enough to match the Avalanche's teamwork. Avalanche U10 mark their first win of the season 6-5.

The Thunder and Avalanche returned to the ice for a second match up. The Avalanche were still on fire with strong play all around. Marlies Brandli opened up the scoring halfway through the first period only to be answered by the Thunder tying it up 1-1.  Megan Peters took it to the net taking the Avalanche to a 2-1 lead.  Lilah Bauer rounded out the period adding one more for the Avalanche.  Viroqua managed one more goal in the third period and pulled their goalie but could not compete with the Avalanche.  The U10 Girls put their second win in the record books with a final score of 3-2.  Great play all around for this young team.
