Text Box: Avalanche Defenseman Kendall Wild and Forward Riley Jones look on as Goaltender Heath Bear saves a puck Saturday afternoon versus the Ice Wolves.Hitting their home ice this past weekend, the Pee Wee B Avalanche Hockey team took on the Dodgeville Ice Wolves in a heartbreaking loss Saturday afternoon. The first period was a battle with back and forth play by both teams. No goal was scored and the shots on goal were equally matched as the goalies for each team were not letting their guard down. In the second period, the Ice Wolves came out of their locker room ready to play and dominated on the offensive end by getting off twice as many shots on net and eventually, the first goal was allowed in by Avalanche's Goaltender Heath Bear. With the score 1-0 at the 11 minute mark in the second period, the Avalanche defensemen Brady Smith, Kendall Wild, Kaiden Klitzke, and Alex Henry worked hard on keeping the Wolves out of their zone and killed off three power plays to keep the score 1-0 going deep into the third period. With no scoring yet by the Avalanche and less than 6 minutes to go in the game, a scoring opportunity finally presented itself for Avalanche's own Ryan Molitor, who outskated the Wolves defense, picked up a loose puck and took it in for a breakaway and lifted it right over the left shoulder of the Ice Wolves Goalie to tie the game up 1-1. With 5 minutes to go in the game, both teams turned on the juice and the goalies were being shot at left and right, with a stellar performance by Avalanche's Bear. Unfortunately, the heartbreaking goal to seal the game occurred with less than a minute to go. Bear had taken at least 3-4 shots in a row, believing he had the puck covered and the whistle would blow, the Wolves were relentless and continued to jab and poke and eventually the puck found the back of the net to make the game 2-1 with 54 seconds left in the game. The Avalanche pulled their goalie in hopes they could connect on a goal but were not able to do so and an empty-netter, that went the length of the ice was put in with 1 second to go.

Goalie Heath Bear recorded 27 saves. The Pee Wee B's (1-2) take on Reedsburg at SLICE on Saturday, November 16 at 11:45 am.
