The Avalanche Pee Wee B team hosted the Madison Patriots this past Sunday, Nov. 24th at SLICE arena. With many Avalanche players playing under the weather and being down one less player, the Avalanche somehow were able to dig down deep and answer back each time the Patriots scored to end the game in a tie 2-2. The Patriots were able to find the back of the net first after twelve minutes of play. However, in less than 90 seconds later, Avalanche Ryan Molitor was able to put in a one-timer from teammates Colton O’Connor and Riley Jones. The first period was dominated by the Patriots as they outshot the Avalanche 10-1 but somehow, despite the adversities the Avalanche had to overcome, their Goaltender Heath Bear kept the Patriots at bay heading into the second period. The second period seemed to have a little more life out of the Avalanche and allowed for back and forth play the entire period. However, the Patriots scored first midway into the 2nd period and again, less than 2 minutes later, the Avalanche answered with a goal by Bryce Montgomery, his first of the season with assists by Ruger Hansen (his first of the season) and Kaiden Klitzke. Bear fended off many breakaways to hold the game at a tie at the end of two periods of play. The final period was a battle to the end as the Avalanche were able to post as many shots in the third period as they posted in the first and second period combined. They were on a mission and were just not able to connect. Avalanche Goaltender Bear had a stellar performance in net helping his “under the weather” teammates come out of Sunday’s game with a tie by recording 24 saves. The Avalanche’s next game will be November 30th at SLICE arena at 9:30am against Janesville.
