Bear Claims First Shutout

This past weekend the Avalanche Pee Wee B team took to the ice on Saturday, Dec. 7th against the Stoughton Vikings B team where the Avalanche for just the second time this season, not only outshot their opponent but did so at a rate of almost two to one, 29 – 15. Goaltender for the Monroe Avalanche team, Heath Bear, recorded his first shutout of the game with the help of his defensemen Alex Henry, Bryce Montgomery, Brady Smith, Kaiden Klitzke, and Kendall Wild who all helped to hold that line. Unfortunately, Bear was not able to record a WIN as the goaltender for the Vikings had a stellar performance stopping every shot the Avalanche put at them, leaving the final score a tie 0-0. Other game notes: Avalanche Ryan Molitor was injured late in the first period after crashing into the boards. He was not able to return to the game.

Polar Caps Too Much for Avalanche

On Sunday morning, the Pee Wee B team traveled to Dodgeville, WI to take on the Polar Caps A team with hopes in coming home with a win as the last time they faced the Polar Caps they lost in the final seconds of the game. With the Avalanche being down two players, Coach Josh Smith had to be creative with his line changes to try and keep his players as fresh as possible. The first period seemed to be the Avalanche’s best period as they were able to get on the board first with a goal by Riley Jones, unassisted seven minutes into the first period. Unfortunately, that is all the scoring the Avalanche would see. With a very short bench, the Avalanche ran out of steam against a solid Polar Caps team that were able to keep fresh legs on the ice the entire game and were able to score four unanswered goals during the remainder of the contest, leaving the final score 4-1, Polar Caps. Avalanche Goaltender Heath Bear recorded 34 saves. The Monroe Avalanche Pee Wee B team (3-3-2) have two games this coming weekend. They will take on the Patriots of Madison on this coming Saturday, Dec. 14th at Hartmeyer Ice Arena at 3:25pm and then on Sunday, December 15th take on the Stoughton Vikings in Stoughton at 8:30am.
