U14 Girls Win One, Tie One

The Avalanche U14 hosted Waukesha County Wolves U14 and U12 teams for a double-header on January 5, 2014. The short Avalanche bench came on strong in the first game against the Wolves’ U14 three-line squad to pull out a tie. Cammi Ganshert, assisted by Ally Einbeck, dropped in an unanswered goal in the first period with the help of aggressive play from the Avalanche crew. The Wolves came back in the second period with two goals. The third period saw forceful action from both sides of the puck. The Wolves scored again to widen their lead but Ganshert lit the lamp twice, assisted by Ally Einbeck, in the third to clinch a 3-3 tie. Both goalies earned 26 saves in the game.

The second game of the day featured an entirely new line of Wolves on the U12 team against the Avalanche ladies. The Avalanche muscled through to earn a close 4-3 win. Goals were scored by Cammi Ganshert (2), with an assist by Anika Einbeck, and Anika Einbeck (2) with an assist by Haley Knauf. The Avalanche had 28 shots on goal while goalie Sara Nicholas had nine saves.
