The Monroe Avalanche Pee Wee B team played two games this past weekend and split them. They lost the first one against Oregon but bounced back to pull off a win in the second game against Beloit with Avalanche Goaltender Heath Bear earning his second shut out of the year.

In game one, on Saturday, February 8th Oregon came to Monroe and controlled the game from start to finish scoring 3 goals in the first, 3 goals in the 2nd and one goal in the third. Avalanche skater Colton O'Connor earned a hat trick scoring the only three goals for the Avalanche,  all unassisted, with one in each period. The Avalanche had their chances to score with Oregon committing seven penalties throughout the game giving Monroe seven power plays but the Avalanche were only able to convert on one. However, it was Oregon that was able to take advantage when they were on the power play scoring 3 out of the 4 times on the power play. Oregon won the game 8-3. Avalanche Goaltender recorded 43 saves.

In game two, on Sunday, February 9th, the Avalanche team traveled to Edwards Ice Arena in Beloit, WI and took on the Beloit B team. From the start, the Avalanche looked solid on the ice, controlling the puck in the offensive end, and not giving Beloit many chances to score. To start the scoring off for the Avalanche, it was the O'Connor brothers, Colton and Ty who connected with each other to put Monroe up 1-0 after one period of play with Colton earning the goal and Ty the assist. Then in the second period, O'Connor's found each other again with unselfish play by Colton who fired a pass in front of the net over to Ty who tipped it in right by the Beloit Goaltender to give the Avalanche a solid 2-0 lead heading into the third period. The third period was a much tighter period as the game was still in reach for Beloit. But it was the beautiful play of Defensemen Kendall Wild, Alex Henry, Brady Smith, Rebekah Rath, and Kaiden Klitzke who held that blue line well, killed off three penalties and did not allow Beloit too many chances to even shoot the puck on Goaltender Bear. Avalanche won 2-0 with Bear recording 10 saves on the game. "The defense this game did a fantastic job of passing, finding the open player, killing penalties and keeping Beloit from shooting. We are working well as a team and it was definitely fun to pick up a win." stated Coach Josh Smith. Pee Wee B's next game is home this coming weekend at SLICE Arena on Sunday, February 16th against Waunakee at 11:30am.
