You can easily sort calendar items by clicking "show tag menu."  For example, if you are looking for all open skates, click "show tag menu", "clear all tags", and select "open skate."  This can be done for specific teams.  You have three options to view:  calendar, month, or day.  Use the arrows to scroll.
